Justinianopolis (Epirus)

Justinianopolis was an ancient city of Epirus and Illyricum, established as the successor settlement to Hadrianopolis [1]. The town was repaired and relocated by Byzantine Emperor Justinian I in the 6th century AD, giving it the name Justinianopolis [1]. It served as one of the administrative centers of the old Epirote government [1]. While the bishopric from Hadrianopolis was transferred to Dryinopolis rather than Justinianopolis, the settlement remained strategically significant in the region [1]. The archaeological site is located near Bregu i Melanit in modern-day Nepravishtë, Albania [1].
