Kamenica Tumulus

The Kamenica Tumulus is a major Bronze and Iron Age burial monument in southeastern Albania, 8 km south of Korce. The elliptical mound measures 70 x 50 meters and contained over 400 graves, 440 skeletons, and 3,500 artifacts. The central grave dates to the 13th century BC, surrounded by two concentric stone circles unique among Albanian tumuli. The tumulus grew through the Late Bronze Age (1250-1050 BC) and Early Iron Age (until c. 650 BC), with a Chalcolithic-era burial of a pregnant woman predating the main structure by centuries.
