Pirak is an Indus Valley civilization archaeological mound in Balochistan, Pakistan, situated 20 km south of Sibi on the eastern bank of the Nari River. The tumulus rises 8 meters high and covers approximately 4.9 hectares (12 acres). First reported by Robert Raikes in 1963, the site was excavated from 1968 to 1974 by a French mission led by Jean Marie Casal—prior to the excavations at Mehrgarh and Nausharo. According to Casal, the settlement was occupied from approximately 1800 BCE to 800 BCE, spanning roughly a millennium of continuous habitation.[1]
