(1500-500 BC) Beacon Hill is a prehistoric hill fort near Burghclere in north Hampshire, standing 261 metres (856 ft) high [1]. One of England's most famous hill forts, it occupies a strategic position on the A34 road corridor [1]. The site takes its name from its historical use as a beacon station, once the most famous in Hampshire [1].
