Ladle Hill

An unfinished Iron Age hillfort on Great Litchfield Down near Kingsclere in Hampshire, England, designated as a Scheduled Monument and Site of Special Scientific Interest. The earthworks were intended to enclose roughly 3.5 hectares but were abandoned before completion, leaving marking-out trenches, partly dug ditch sections, and untidy spoil heaps that reveal Iron Age construction methods. First identified as unfinished by archaeologist Stuart Piggott in a 1931 paper in Antiquity. Magnetometer surveys from 1997 confirmed no typical occupation features such as storage pits were ever established within the enclosure. Bronze Age barrows, including a disc barrow and saucer barrow, are located nearby.
