Moel y Gaer is an Iron Age hillfort situated on a summit at the southern end of Halkyn Mountain overlooking the Dee Estuary near Rhosesmor, Flintshire, Wales[1]. Excavations in the early 1970s uncovered a complex sequence of timber defensive structures and multiple phases of building work within the ramparts[1]. The site is exceptionally well-preserved, with its earthworks remaining visible across the hilltop[1].
