Castell Caer Seion is an Iron Age hillfort on the summit of Conwy Mountain in North Wales. Unusually, the main fort contains a smaller, more heavily defended inner fort with its own defences and entrance. Radiocarbon dating places the earliest occupation between the 6th and 4th centuries BC, with the inner fort built around the 4th century BC. Over 400 sling stones and remains of approximately 50 hut circles were found within the main walls. The diet of inhabitants included wheat, oat, spelt, barley, and hazelnut. The fort was likely abandoned when the Romans conquered North Wales in 78 AD.
