Roman Bridge of Catribana

A Roman bridge near the village of Catribana in the parish of Sao Joao das Lampas, municipality of Sintra, Lisbon District, Portugal. The single-arch bridge crosses the Bolelas stream and is built of local limestone blocks. Not identified as Roman until the 1980s, it was restored in 2019 after considerable degradation. It likely connected Roman villas in the territory of Olisipo (modern Lisbon) in the province of Lusitania. Nearby, archaeologists have found a Roman-era cemetery and remains of a Neolithic settlement.
