Niha, Zahlé

Niha is a village in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, home to four Roman temples built between the 1st and 3rd centuries AD [1]. The lower two temples, dedicated to the god Hadaranes and goddess Atargatis, sit at the village edge, while two upper temples at Hosn Niha stand 2 km uphill at 1,400 m elevation [1]. An inscription found at the site describes a priestess named Hochmea who reportedly fasted from bread for 20 years [1].
