Qasr Chbib

Qasr Chbib is a complex of two Roman temples built between 150 and 300 CE, situated near the summit of Mount Hermon. Both sanctuaries have northern walls carved directly from the bedrock, while the western temple features a back area hewn entirely from the natural rock escarpment in place of a traditional adyton. The temples exemplify how ancient builders creatively integrated Mount Hermon's geology into Roman religious architecture, blending imperial building styles with local construction techniques. The site was identified during epigraphic surveys in 2003-2004.
