Qasr Naous Roman Temples

Qasr Naous is a complex of two Roman temples situated on a hilltop at approximately 600 metres above sea level in Ain Aakrine, northern Lebanon. The eastern temple retains its platform, two columns with Corinthian capitals, and partial walls, surrounded by a temenos with a decorated propylaea. Nineteenth-century scholar Ernest Renan documented a winged sun disk motif on the doorway lintel during his 1860-1861 visit. A relief depicting the face of the Sun God (Helios) was found near the western temple, while remains of houses north of the complex suggest an associated settlement.
