Ancient Byblos

(8800 BC–present) One of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities, Byblos was first settled between 8800–7000 BC and has been continuously inhabited since 5000 BC[1]. Urbanization began during the third millennium BC, developing into a major port and city[1]. The site was part of Egyptian, Phoenician, Assyrian, Persian, Hellenistic, Roman, Genoese, Mamluk and Ottoman civilizations[1]. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site[1].
