Megarian Treasury, Olympia

The Megarian Treasury at Olympia, dating to c. 520-510 BC, was built by the city-state of Megara on the north side of the sanctuary to store votive offerings. Constructed primarily of limestone with a terracotta tile roof, it featured a pediment depicting a Gigantomachy (battle between gods and giants) carved in limestone relief. The restored entablature and pediment sculpture, with one giant figure surviving nearly intact, are now displayed in the Olympia Archaeological Museum.
