The Griffin Warrior Tomb is a Bronze Age shaft grave dating to c. 1450 BC, discovered in 2015 by University of Cincinnati archaeologists Jack Davis and Sharon Stocker near the Palace of Nestor in Pylos, Greece. The undisturbed burial yielded over 2,000 artifacts including gold jewelry, bronze weapons, ivory plaques, and approximately 50 decorated seal stones. Among them, the Pylos Combat Agate -- a 1.4-inch sealstone depicting warriors in extraordinary detail -- is considered one of the finest works of prehistoric Greek art. The predominantly Minoan-style grave goods suggest deep cultural exchange between Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations rather than sharp division.
