Iklaina

Iklaina (Greek: Ίκλαινα) is a historic village in the municipal unit of Pylos, Messenia, Greece, situated in low hills approximately 10 km northeast of Pylos[1]. The settlement stands upon the remains of a Late Bronze Age city (ca. 1600-1100 BC)[1]. Archaeological excavations have been conducted by the Athens Archaeological Society and the University of Missouri–St. Louis under the direction of Michael Cosmopoulos[1]. Major finds include an early Mycenaean palace, giant terrace walls, murals, an advanced drainage system, and a clay tablet dating to between 1450 and 1350 BC featuring an early Linear B inscription[1].
