Roman Ridge

Roman Ridge is a surviving section of Ermine Street, one of the major Roman roads in Britain, running between Scawsby and Redhouse north of Doncaster in South Yorkshire. The bridleway rises onto a remarkably high causeway, or agger, across undulating land west of Adwick le Street, though much of its height derives from successive post-Roman resurfacing. Designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument, the route passes through Sunnyfields and along the western edges of Highfields and Woodlands before reaching the Great North Road.
