Beeley Moor

Beeley Moor is a gritstone upland in the Derbyshire Peak District, rising to 371 m, preserving a rich prehistoric landscape of Bronze Age cairns, cairn fields, burial mounds, stone circles, and guidestones, all protected as Scheduled Ancient Monuments. Notable features include Hob Hurst's House, an unusual square Bronze Age burial cairn on nearby Harland Edge, excavated by Thomas Bateman in 1853, which yielded a stone cist containing cremated remains. The moor became Open Access land following the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000.
