Merrivale, Devon

Merrivale is a Bronze Age and Neolithic ceremonial complex on western Dartmoor, Devon. The site includes two double stone rows (the longest stretching 263 metres), a stone circle of 11 granite stones approximately 18 metres in diameter, a standing menhir over 3 metres tall, and several burial cairns. Over 50 roundhouses from a Bronze Age farming settlement spread across the hillside north of the stone rows. In use from roughly 3000 BC to 700 BC, the site was abandoned when soil degradation made upland cultivation impossible.
