Castle Head, Devon

Castle Head is an Iron Age hill fort dating to between 1500–500 BC, occupying a commanding promontory position at the neck of a bend in the River Tamar on the Devon side near Dunterton [1]. The fort sits approximately 100 metres above sea level, with a secondary earthwork situated due south at around 50 metres elevation [1]. Additional earthworks exist on the Cornwall side of the river [1]. The site is recorded as a promontory fort in the Devon and Dartmoor Historic Environment Record [2].
