Holne Chase Castle

Holne Chase Castle is a slight univallate Iron Age hillfort in Devon, England, built during the Late Bronze Age to Early Iron Age transition (8th-5th centuries BC). The oval enclosure measures 120m by 96m, defined by a single rampart and ditch with a counterscarp bank. It features two entrances, including an inturned entrance to the southwest. Partial excavation in 1905 yielded pottery and Iron Age currency bars. Slight univallate hillforts are rare nationally and important for understanding the Bronze-to-Iron Age community transition.
