Jenny's Lantern

Jenny's Lantern is an Iron Age hillfort in north Northumberland, England, overbuilt by a well-preserved Romano-British stone settlement and field system [1]. The site sits on a small south-facing promontory rising to 144 metres above the Aln valley [1]. It takes its name from an 18th-century 'eye-catcher' folly built on the hilltop [1]. The fort was occupied from roughly 500 BC through the Roman period until the 1st century AD [1]. Part of the structure partially collapsed during a storm in November 2021 [1].
