Blue Bell Hill

Blue Bell Hill is a chalk hill in Kent between Maidstone and Rochester, home to the eastern cluster of the Medway Megaliths, a group of Early Neolithic chambered long barrows dating to c.4000 BC. The most prominent monument is Kit's Coty House, consisting of three large sarsen standing stones capped by a capstone, originally the entrance to a burial chamber within a mound estimated at 80m long. Nearby Little Kit's Coty House (the Countless Stones) and the Coffin Stone, where human remains were found in 1836, complete the eastern group. These monuments show closer connections to continental European megaliths than to other British counterparts.
