Watling Temple

Romano-Celtic temple discovered in 2019 within a Roman industrial town near the A2 road at Newington, Kent. The square flint-walled temple measured 12.5m by 11.5m and is one of only 150 recorded temples in England. Excavation of the 7.2-hectare site also revealed iron furnaces, pottery kilns, a 7m-wide Roman road, and late Iron Age remains dating from 30 BC. A full-scale reconstruction was unveiled in 2021, positioned 70m from the original location.
