South Weald Camp

South Weald Camp was a hillfort in South Weald, Brentwood, Essex, dating to the late Iron Age (1st century BC to 1st century AD)[1]. The roughly circular fortification covered 2.8 hectares (approximately 6.9 acres)[1]. The site is associated with the Catuvellauni and Trinovantes Iron Age tribes who inhabited the region[1]. This defensive structure represents the hillfort tradition common in southern Britain during the late Iron Age period.
