Battlesbury Camp

Battlesbury Camp is an Iron Age bivallate hillfort occupying the summit of Battlesbury Hill near Warminster in Wiltshire, England. The site encompasses approximately 10 hectares enclosed by a double row of earthen defences with triple ditches and ramparts, with entrances at the east and northwest. Excavations have revealed Late Bronze Age to Middle Iron Age settlement activity including roundhouses, four-post structures, and pits containing pottery, a chariot wheel hub, an iron carpenter's saw, sling stones, and quern stones. An Iron Age inhumation cemetery near the northwest entrance has yielded several human skeletons and part of a horse skeleton. The site is a Scheduled Monument encompassing the hillfort, barrows, field systems, and associated settlement remains.
