EnglandA Roman fort on Hadrian's Wall in Cumbria, spanning 2.14 hectares, making it one of the larger forts on the Wall [1] [2]. Named Banna ("horn" in Celtic) for its triangular spur above the River Irthing, it was garrisoned by the 1,000-strong Cohors I Aelia Dacorum from present-day Romania [1] [2] [3]. The fort is attached to the longest surviving stretch of Hadrian's Wall [2].
