Temple of Augustus, Split

The Temple of Augustus is a well-preserved Roman temple in Pula, Croatia, dedicated to the first Roman emperor Augustus[1]. It was constructed between 27 BC and AD 14 during the emperor's lifetime[1]. The temple stands on a podium featuring a tetrastyle prostyle porch with Corinthian columns, measuring approximately 8 by 17.3 metres and reaching 14 metres in height[1]. Its richly decorated frieze closely resembles that of the Maison Carrée in Nîmes, France, a slightly larger and more recent structure[1]. Together, these two temples are considered the finest complete Roman monuments surviving outside Italy[1].
