Burnum

Burnum was a Roman Legionary fortress and later town in inland Dalmatia, located 2.5 km north of Kistanje, Croatia[1]. The site was occupied from the 1st to 5th century AD, serving as headquarters for several legions including Legio XX Valeria Victrix[2]. Key remains include a principia (praetorium), a stone amphitheatre with seating for thousands, and a substantial aqueduct that supplied water to the settlement[1][3]. Burnum represents one of the most significant Roman military sites in Dalmatia, with excavation work continuing into the 21st century[3].
