Porta Gemina

Porta Gemina (Dvojna vrata) is a Roman double-arched city gate in Pula, Croatia, constructed in the late 2nd century AD. One of ten gates that once guarded the ancient city, it stood at the northern edge of the Roman capitol[1]. The monument survives in relatively good condition, with its two arched passages remaining intact. The gateway stands opposite the modern Citadel, which was built on the site of the ancient capitol. The structure exemplifies Roman urban planning and defensive architecture from the imperial period.
