Gate of Hercules

The Gate of Hercules is a Roman-era gateway in Pula, Croatia, dating to approximately 47–44 BC [1]. It is situated between two medieval towers and constructed from uncarved stone blocks [1]. The monument features a carved relief of Hercules' head with a prominent beard, curly hair, and a club [1]. An inscription honoring Roman officials Lucius Calpurnius Piso and Gaius Cassius Longinus originally stood beside the club but has since been damaged [1]. The gate is located at coordinates 44°52′12.7″N 13°50′52.9″E and was not richly decorated compared to other Roman monuments [1].
