Arch of the Sergii

Roman triumphal arch in Pula, Croatia, erected between 29 and 27 BC by Salvia Postuma Sergia to honor three relatives, notably Lucius Sergius Lepidus, a tribune in the legion that fought at the Battle of Actium. Its richly decorated facade features slender Corinthian columns, winged victories, garlands, and chariot reliefs reflecting late Hellenistic taste. Originally part of the city's Porta Aurea (Golden Gate), it reportedly inspired sketches by Michelangelo.
