Pyre of Heracles

The Pyre of Heracles consists of ruins of a Doric temple dating to the 3rd century BC, situated on Mount Oeta in Phocis, Greece [1]. According to mythology, this is the site where the hero Heracles self-immolated, a story told in Sophocles' tragedy Trachiniae [1]. Manius Acilius Glabrio visited the site in 191 BC [1].
