Treasury of Cyrene

The Treasury of Cyrene was probably the last treasury built within the sanctuary of Apollo at Delphi, dated to ca. 334-322 BC. Constructed in the Doric order with a distyle in antis design, it featured marble from Paros and Mount Pentelikon, with a roof decorated with gargoyles in alternating lion-head and tubular forms. An inscription records that the Cyreneans received the privilege of promanteia in gratitude for donating wheat during a famine. The building was oriented toward the Temple of Apollo and stood on a three-step limestone platform.
