Ex voto(s) of the Argives, Delphi

Several votive monuments dedicated by the city of Argos at the Sanctuary of Apollo in Delphi. The most notable is a semicircular pedestal erected after 369 BC to celebrate Argos's contribution to the founding of Messene, capital of the liberated Messenians. An earlier offering comprised statues of the Seven Against Thebes and the Epigones, crafted by the Argive sculptor Polymedes. The monuments reflect Argos's status as one of the most powerful cities of the Archaic and Classical periods, with dedications spanning military victories including a bronze Trojan Horse offered after 413 BC.
