Monkodonja is a Bronze Age hillfort near Rovinj in Istria, Croatia, occupied from approximately 1800 to 1200 BC. Situated on a hill 81 m above sea level, the settlement forms an irregular ellipse 250 m long with an acropolis, upper town, and lower town enclosed by three concentric drystone walls up to 3 m high and wide. Discovered in 1953, major international excavations from 1997-2009 revealed multiple cultural layers, defensive gates, and evidence of its strategic role in monitoring trade routes. Today it is an open archaeological park.
