(1st–4th c. AD) The remains of a Roman amphitheatre lie beneath Guildhall Yard in the City of London, with some structures displayed in situ in the basement of the Guildhall Art Gallery [1][2]. London's first amphitheatre was built in wood around 70 AD and was renovated in the early 2nd century [1]. The site was discovered in 1988 and is now a scheduled monument [1][2].
