A Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age univallate hillfort in Wiltshire, England, covering 3 hectares on a commanding hilltop close to the ancient Ridgeway trackway. Excavations by Hirst and Rahtz in 1976 revealed ramparts constructed in at least four phases beginning in the 7th-8th centuries BC, with initial timber-and-turf defences later enlarged to a massive dump rampart. Finds include a bronze awl, earring, spindle whorls, pottery, and a ritual shaft at least 2.4 metres deep. The fort was likely abandoned in the 5th century BC with some Roman-period reoccupation. It has been speculatively linked to Mons Badonicus, the legendary site of King Arthur's victory over the Saxons.
