Ermin Way

Ermin Way (Margary number 41) was a Roman road in Britain linking Glevum (Gloucester) to Corinium (Cirencester) and onward to Calleva (Silchester), forming a critical junction in the Roman road network. At Gloucester it connected to routes into southeast Wales; at Cirencester it met the Fosse Way; and at Silchester it joined the Devil's Highway to Londinium. Much of its route is now followed by the modern A417, A419, and B4000 roads. In 2024, construction work on the A417 uncovered a previously unknown Roman town along the route between Gloucester and Cirencester.
