Stina, Ukraine

Stina is the site of a Cucuteni-Trypillia culture mega-settlement in Ukraine dating to 3600-3200 BC. Covering approximately 100 hectares (250 acres), it ranks among over 29 settlements in the 100-450 hectare range that characterized this culture's greatest expansion. These proto-urban centers represent some of the largest settlements in 4th-millennium BC Europe, predating Mesopotamian cities by centuries. Stina is one of approximately 2,440 Cucuteni-Trypillia settlements discovered across Moldova and Ukraine.
