Mezine

Mezine (or Mezyn) is an Epigravettian archaeological site in northern Ukraine, located on the Desna River bank near the village of Mezine in Novhorod-Siverskyi Raion, Chernihiv Oblast [1]. The site holds the most Paleolithic artifact finds in Ukraine [1]. It is best known for a set of bracelets engraved with marks possibly representing lunar calendar cycles [1]. Also discovered at Mezine is the earliest known example of a meander pattern, found on an object carved from mammoth ivory to resemble a bird and dated to approximately 10,000 BCE [1][2].
