Mamai-Hora

Mamai-Hora is the largest multicomplex burial mound in the Northern Black Sea region, located near Velyka Znamianka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Ukraine. Spanning millennia of use from the Eneolithic period through the Cossack era, excavations have uncovered over 500 burials across Bronze Age, Scythian, Sarmatian, and medieval periods. Scythian burials yielded weapons, gold items, jewelry, and horse harnesses, including a series of 12 Amazon warrior graves containing arrows and mirrors. Since 2022, the site has been under Russian occupation, threatening its preservation.
