Uxama Argaela

Uxama Argaela was a Celtiberian city of the Arevaci on El Castro hill near modern El Burgo de Osma, Soria, Spain, covering 28 hectares when walled. It fought in the Celtiberian Wars (153-133 BC), was destroyed by Pompey in 72 BC for supporting Sertorius, then rebuilt as a prosperous Roman settlement. Notable remains include the forum with a temple of imperial worship, the 950-square-meter House of the Bases built under Claudius, over 20 water cisterns, and an underground aqueduct transporting water 18 km from the Ucero headwaters.
