Roman Bridge of Talamanca de Jarama

A bridge of Roman origin in Talamanca de Jarama, Community of Madrid, Spain. The 150-metre structure features a large central arch and four smaller arches, built of limestone ashlars from Tamajon and granite from Colmenar fitted without mortar. Extensively remodelled in medieval times, the bridge bears 265 mason marks from various construction phases. It no longer spans the Jarama river, as the watercourse has shifted over the centuries. Declared a Bien de Interes Cultural in 1996, it was restored in 2008.
