Coca, Segovia

Founded in the 1st century AD during Roman rule, Coca is a municipality in Segovia province, Castile and León, Spain. Located 50 kilometres northwest of Segovia and 60 kilometres from Valladolid, the town was the birthplace of Roman Emperor Theodosius I in 347 CE [1]. The iconic Castillo de Coca, a 15th-century Mudéjar-style castle, dominates the townscape [1]. The settlement flourished during the Roman period as evidenced by archaeological evidence of Roman occupation and its connection to one of the most significant emperors of the late Roman Empire.
