Castellon Alto is an Argaric culture Bronze Age settlement in Galera, Granada, occupied from c. 1900-1600 BC. The village was built on three natural terraces, with an upper citadel separated by a perimeter wall housing the elite and a water cistern. At its height it had 80-100 inhabitants. Approximately 130 tombs were found in residential areas -- children in burial urns, adults in rock-cut caves sealed with stone slabs, with grave goods reflecting social status. The site yielded the Mummy of Galera, described as the oldest and best-preserved mummy in European prehistory after Otzi.
