SpainLa Almoloya is a Bronze Age site in Pliego, Murcia, Spain, and a principal center of the El Argar culture (c. 2200-1500 BC). Excavations by the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona in 2014 revealed what may be western Europe's earliest palace, a large hall with built-in benches and seating for 50 people. Beneath the palace floor, Grave 38 contained a man and woman buried c. 1700 BC; the woman wore a silver diadem and was interred with about 30 valuable artifacts, suggesting she held significant political power.
