Tolmo de Minateda

Tolmo de Minateda is a multi-period archaeological park in Hellin, Albacete, Spain, occupying a 7-hectare rocky promontory at a strategic crossroads between the Meseta Central and the Mediterranean coast. Inhabited continuously for over 3,000 years from the Bronze Age through the Islamic period, it became the Roman municipium of Ilunum in 9 BC. It later housed the Visigothic episcopal see of Eio with a basilica complex. The nearby Minateda rock shelter preserves prehistoric paintings (6000-1000 BC) designated as UNESCO World Heritage. Opened to the public in 2019 as one of five Castilla-La Mancha archaeological parks.
