Castulo

Castulo was an ancient Iberian settlement in the province of Jaén, Andalusia, Spain, near modern Linares, occupied from the Neolithic period. By the 6th century BC, it served as the chief settlement of the Oretani people, an Iberian tribe. According to Roman sources, the princess Himilce married Carthaginian general Hannibal, securing a crucial alliance with the city. Castulo later became a Christian bishopric, now a Latin titular see.[1]
