Cartagena, Spain

Cartagena is a city in southeastern Spain with over 2,300 years of history. Founded around 227 BC by Carthaginian general Hasdrubal the Fair as Qart Hadasht, it became a major Mediterranean naval base [1]. During Roman rule it was known as Carthago Nova and served as capital of the province of Carthaginensis [2].
