Acci

Acci was an ancient Iberian settlement that became the Roman colony Colonia Julia Gemella Accitana, founded by Julius Caesar around 45 BC after the Battle of Munda to settle veterans [1]. Located near modern Guadix in Granada, Spain, archaeological evidence shows an oppidum with an organized urban plan dating to the 6th century BC [2]. Under Rome it held Jus Latinum status and minted coins bearing the images of Augustus, Tiberius, and Caligula. The Diocese of Acci, one of Spain's earliest, was traditionally established in 47 AD [1].
